Old Alabama Road Corridor Study Fulton County Georgia |
Street Smarts performed traffic analyses and detailed corridor study for an 8-mile stretch of roadway located in northern Fulton County, Georgia. Analyses included traffic operations for existing and future conditions, as well as for various proposed alternative improvements. Once improvements are complete, the roadway will be turned over to local jurisdictions - the Cities of Roswell and Johns Creek.

Atlanta West Parking Deck Alternative Selection and Traffic Assessment Atlanta, Georgia |
This multi-task project included providing recommendations to the City of Atlanta Department of Aviation (DOA) concerning ingress/egress options as the first assignment. Following that, a Traffic Impact Assessment Report was submitted to the DOA including an inventory of existing roadway and traffic conditions, forecasting traffic for years 2009 and 2015 under different conditions, and providing recommendations. The third assignment was to assess on-site traffic impacts and recommend specific geometric and traffic control improvement for the movement of site traffic.
Wheatfields Reserve Development of Regional Impact Gwinnett County, Georgia |
For this proposed 417-unit single-family residential development, Street Smarts prepared the traffic impact analysis, area of influence analysis, and air quality benchmark statement for the non-expedited review package submitted to the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and Gwinnett County.

INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS (ITS) |
| Northern Virginia ITS Go Forward Plan |
Street Smarts was a key contributor to the district's strategic ITS plan provind project management services, detailed analysis expertise, and stakeholder workshop facilitation for several of the tasks. Street Smarts analyzed CAD integration, inter-agency data sharing, intra departmental collaboration, and made recommendations for which ITS initiatives to pursue.
Georgia Department of Transportation Transportation Management Center Traffic Operations |
Street Smarts provides traffic engineering staff to assist with traffic management duties and management level traffic operations expertise at the GDOT Transportation Management Center. Additional services include business process analysis and process improvement services enabling greater efficiency and a more productive environment for GDOT.
| Georgia DOT ITS Maintenance |
Street Smarts provides administrative support and Construction, Engineering And Inspections (CE&I) support for the Georgia Department of Transportation's ITS Maintenance Statewide. The NaviGAtor system is currently comprised of a variety of field components and subsystems including 2,105 ITS field devices and 302-miles of fiber optic communications network used to transport video and data to and from the Transportation Management Centers located in Atlanta and Macon. ITS Maintenance works to ensure that the fiber optic network and all devices are functioning properly. This not only aids in incident management, but also helps to provide the traveling public with crucial traffic information.

TRAFFIC SIGNALS |
| Signal Timing Along The City Of Pasadena's Main Corridors |
Street Smarts created, installed and fine-tuned timing plans for major corridors, established emergency vehicle preemption, and assisted the City Traffic Engineer solve additional signal timing and signal design issues.
Timing plans were developed for nearly 90 intersections based on travel time between intersections and offsets at crossing systems to meet the strict limited project budget. The majority of the timing plan development was based on field experience and field observations.
Timing parameters were established and deployed at 24 intersections for expansion of the City's emergency vehicle preemption system.
City Traffic Engineer consults with Street Smarts engineers on an as needed basis for expertise in signal design and timing issues.
| Regulatory, Warning, and Directional Sign Upgrades |
Street Smarts inventoried over 6,800 signs on the airport property and created plans for regulatory, warning, and directional sign upgrades. The sign inventory was utilized to evaluate each sign’s location, significance, and condition to identify those signs to be included in the replacement plan set. New regulatory signs were designed for Airport specific uses when standard MUTCD signs could not be used. Street Smarts' engineers will also assist with the construction management.
| Metro-Atlanta Signal Upgrade And Communication Project |
As part of the Governor's Fast Forward Program, Street Smarts was selected to participate in the upgrading of existing state and local signal systems, including more than 400 traffic signals in the metropolitan Atlanta area. The project seeks to modernize and repair aging equipment on Metro-Atlanta's regionally significant corridors.
| Texas Department Of Transportation Dallas District Signal Timing |
Signal system timing plans along State Highways in the Cities of Rockwall and Midlothian, Texas.
Street Smarts developed timing plans for FM 740 and SH 205 in the City of Rockwall, and US 287 in the City of Midlothian for this project. Traffic patterns were analyzed to identify operational plans; timing parameters were developed; and the signal system was modeled with the planned timing improvements.
Street Smarts engineers conducted field fine-tuning of the new timing plans and coordinated travel time data collection. Before and after studies were conducted to document the reduction in travel time, number of stops and signal delay along all corridors.
| Suwanee Jubilee and Suwanee Station Signal Warrant Study |
Street Smarts performed a traffic signal warrant study for the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at Station Center Boulevard/Vista Point Lane in Suwanee, Gwinnett County, Georgia. Developments currently under construction will eventually include a 82,215 square foot shopping center, 118,735 square feet of specialty retail, 487,730 square feet of office space, 668 apartments, 310 townhouses, and 112 single-family homes. As part of the study, the existing traffic at the intersection was counted and estimates made regarding future traffic volumes after build out of the area.
Scott Boulevard Signal Timing Decatur, Georgia |
Street Smarts developed and implemented new signal timings for Scott Boulevard in accordance with GDOT Specifications. The five-mile, 12-intersection corridor is a major commuter artery through the heart of DeKalb County with several major arterial crossings. The results of the signal timing project and communication repairs were improvements to every measure of effectiveness - travel time, speed, overall delay, number of stops, fuel consumption, and emissions. The average total delay decreased 42%.
